There’s not a particular area that students tend to live in in Wolverhampton. Students here are a little unusual in that they sometimes live in Telford or Walsall (to be close to the Wolverhampton uni campuses based there). Some even choose to live in neighbouring Birmingham, as it’s only a 20-minute train ride away. Lots of students do live in Wolverhampton though, you’ll be close to all your mates here.
The good news is that you have plenty of choice, find what works for you and live in the area that caters to your needs the best! Wolverhampton is great if you’re looking for variety!
Wolverhampton is a bustling city in the West Midlands. It has a great nightlife and plenty things to see and do! You’ll be forever explaining to your mates that you’re neither living in the North or the South, but you’ll soon love being “in-between”!

Wolverhampton is quite an easy city to get around, with most amenities located in the city centre. Most of the main clubs and pubs are within walking distance of each other as well.
Wolverhampton University city campus is easily accessible and is right in the city centre. If you’re in the centre of town, you can walk to the campus in no time at all.
You can easily get to the Wolverhampton Unis other two campuses in Telford and Walsall using the inter-campus shuttle bus service.
Wolverhampton is also extremely close to Birmingham. If you want to pop over to Brum, just hop on a train and you’ll be there within 20 minutes!
If you need to get a taxi, there are taxi ranks in the city centre and each journey shouldn’t cost you much more than a fiver.
Wolverhampton has got loads for you to see and do. It’s is known for its lively nightlife and cosmopolitan feel. Its large student population means that loads of places cater to the student lifestyle (and budget!).
Wolverhampton doesn’t have many landmarks or historical sites, but it’s very close to its neighbour Birmingham! There’s plenty of iconic things to see and places to visit in Wolverhampton’s big neighbour. It’s only 20 minutes away! Places like the iconic Bullring and the fantastic Cadbury World are great places to go and explore! It may not be right on your doorstep, but it’s worth making the journey!
Fancy a journey through time? Pop along to Wightwick Manor. It’s a huge, Victorian-era manor house that’s been preserved in all of its 19th-century glory! It’ll feel like you’ve gone back in time when you’re walking around this place!
Want to get some culture in you? Then pop along to the Wolverhampton Art Gallery. This place is filled with awesome pieces. From Victorian and Georgian artwork, to pop culture sculptures, this place has it all!
Fan of football? Check out Wolves Museum. This immersive experience tells you the history of the iconic Wolverhampton Wanderers. The team’s been around for donkey’s years and has loads of great heritage and history! It’s a cool way to spend an afternoon and learn a little about a famous footy team!
Want to see a bit of greenery? Head over to West Park. It’s a huge Victorian-era park, filled with loads of open spaces and lovely walks. Phoenix Park and East Park are other great ones to check out too!
After all that exploring, you probably could do with a drink right? Well, you’re in luck! Wolverhampton has got loads of places to grab a pint or two with some mates! The Bohemian is a fun cocktail bar, known for their tasty concoctions. If you’re looking for a cool place to grab an after-lecture pint in, head to The Royal London. It has a quirky interior and is a great spot to hang with some mates. Sunbeam is another fun place to drink. Its stylish design and wide selection of drinks will definitely have you coming back for more!
Now for the really fun stuff, the clubs! Every student has to know the best night-spots, here are some places you should check out. Want a big night out with Alt-Rock and Indie as your soundtrack? Head to The Planet Nightclub. This place is called The Planet because it’s out of this world! It’s a huge club that’s a favourite among students. Another place to see is Gorgeous. This place is the perfect place to spend your Friday night! If you’re a fan of live music, you’ll like it here; they often host live gigs. Yolo is another good place for seeing live bands as well! Even if Wolverhampton doesn’t do it for you, don’t forget there’s plenty of great clubs in nearby Birmingham as well!
If you fancy grabbing a coffee, there are a handful of great places to check out. Latuske’s is a nice little café with a modern interior. Madame Clarke’s is a Victorian-style café; perfect for a relaxing cuppa Fancy something a little more high-end? Head to The Brooke Coffee House for a tasty cup of coffee. This place is known for serving up a delicious brew!
If you’re looking to see some live sports, look no further than Molineux Stadium. The iconic ground is home to the mighty Wolverhampton Wanderers. They currently play in the Championship, but often creep up into the Premier League. If you like derbies, you’ll have a lot of fun supporting Wolves. They maintain bitter rivalries with West Brom, Aston Villa and Birmingham City. Their battle with West Brom is referred to as the Black Country Derby and is not one to miss!
Wolverhampton is a decent-sized city, so you’ll find all the major restaurant chains here.
The West Midlands is known for having lots of delicious curry houses and Wolverhapmton is testament to that! Check out Jivans for some authentic Indian cuisine. Indian Gate and The Curry Lounge are other good places to go to as well!
The Hooded Ram is a cool place to check out. It specialises in street food and is a nice place to share some grub with mates. Want something totally different? Why not pop into Café Maxsim. This place serves up tapas from 7 different mediterranean countries. From Iberian to Italian, this place is perfect if you want to try something new!
For vegetarians, check out Veggie Supreme Pizza. This place specialises in vegetarian pizza and is the perfect place to share a meat-free 12 inch!
Wolverhampton has got loads of great shops you can visit. It’s got tons of range, from mainstream brands to quirky vintage shops. Whatever you fancy, you’ll be able to find it here!
Mander centre is the main shopping centre in Wolverhampton. This place will have most of what you need; it’s filled with all the big clothes brands. The Wulfrun shopping centre is the other main shopping centre in Wolverhampton, but this one’s a little smaller than the Mander shopping centre.
If you want to explore some more shops, hop on the train to Birmingham. The city is absolutely huge and has a huge range of shops for you to visit. If you can’t find it in Wolverhampton, you’ll find it in Brum!
Wolverhampton also has lots of shops in the city centre for you explore as well. You’ll find most of what you need in the main shopping centres, but the town centre has plenty of shops as well. See what you can find!
